Flemming met June at the Atlantic Christian Training Centre in Tatamagouche, NS (now the Tatamagouche Centre) where she was taking a winter course for which he was a part-time instructor. They married in 1957 and had four children.

Flemming and June divorced in 1980. June subsequently married Charles “Doug” Maginley. She died in 2014. See JuneMaginley.ca for more about her life.
